We were delighted to be invited to UK Kidney Week 2022 to present a transplantation session on the UKODTRN and some of its activity.
This was held in early June 2022 in Birmingham and some of the Executive Team were thrilled to be profiling our activities during the last 2+ years during the pandemic. There was extra excitement as it was the first time we had met in person since the Network’s inception!
The 90 minute session was chaired by Dr Joyce Popoola from St George’s (sadly Dr Sian Griffin, an Exec member, who would have co-chaired, was down with Covid). The session started with Professor Lorna Marson presenting the Network’s ‘UK Transplant Lifelines Project: personalised immunosuppression in solid organ transplantation’. This was followed by Professor Tony Dorling whose subject was ‘Defining novel metrics of success in transplantation’. This was followed by Karen Rockell and Neerja Jain who presented on ‘Diverse Patient & Public Involvement & Engagement’. The formal presentations concluded with an abstract by Mr Callum Arthurs on Automated kidney zone and structure identification in renal transplant biopsies. The 90-minute session ended with a lively and interesting panel discussion, questions and informal conversations with attendees.
